Meet our team

This project fits into the profile, it also is the next step in a line of projects Novia has been involved in earlier. Building on expertise obtained in earlier Interreg projects about landbased windpower (WindCoE) and icing issues (NoICE), Novia can contribute to the sustainable development of offshore wind power. In addition, Novias role in the project will be icing issues, sustainability questions, site visits and as a lead partner in EU. Novia UAS is a trusted lead partner with long experience from Interreg projects.

Tampere University have long experience on EU funding, dealing with legal, financial, admin. issues. Materials Science & Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences has R&D teams, who perform internationally recognized materials research in the field of materials science, surface engineering and icing research. Research interests are in the development of sustainable solutions for environmental challenges in different industrial fields such as energy (OFFwind), aviation, manufacturing and transportation. TAU, its Icing Research Group are part of NoICE collaboration network. Renewable energy and eco- and energy -efficiency are in the target points in this research area together with safety aspects for the development.

The research at Luleå University of Technology (LTU) is organized in strong interdisciplinary research areas and in close cooperation with industry and society. The Chair of Building Materials has achieved ground-breaking research with special focus on sustainable building materials based on main and industrial wastes and their application technologies, recycling and reuse as well as applied building physics and ice research. The nanotechnology and development of smart concretes capable of self-monitoring and energy harvesting is one of the main activities performed since 2015.

TI-R&D institute SINTEF Narvik (SN) is part of the SINTEF group, with more than 2000 employees. Research areas for SN is Structural Engineering, Material Technology, Circular Technology & Renewable Energy, Cold Climate Technology, Process- and Environmental Technology. Offshore wind may be the future main provider of renewable energy. The offshore shelf outside North-Norway composes of nearly 60% of the Norwegian shelf and the areas provides very good wind resources. These energy resources can provide significant green energy for the green industry initiatives (H2, DRI, battery) in the region. Important for SN is to be part of a cross-border partnership in the North Calotte area in order to build alliances and to develop new international projects. Furthermore, it is regarded as vital to be part of a North Calotte strong cluster within Renewable energy.
